Drevers are independent yet responsive, and they get along well with people, children, and other dogs when properly socialized. They are happiest when given regular physical and mental activity—particularly scent work or tracking tasks. Though not overly energetic indoors, they need daily walks and sniff-based engagement.
Their short, dense coat is easy to maintain. As a healthy, natural breed, the Drever has few major health concerns, though back strain should be avoided due to its elongated body.
