Overview

The Braque Français Pyrenean is one of two types of French pointing breeds (the other being the Gascogne type), and is the lighter, more agile of the two. Originating in the Pyrenees region, this dog was bred for close-range hunting in mountainous or wooded terrain.

Smaller and more compact than many other pointing breeds, the Pyrenean excels in both the field and the home. It’s affectionate, gentle, and easy to live with—yet has the drive and stamina to work all day. This makes it a superb companion for active families or hunters seeking a responsive, biddable dog.
