Bouvier des Flandres dogs are intelligent, trainable, and serious about their work. Early training and socialization are essential, especially given their size and protective instincts. They’re typically calm indoors but require daily physical and mental activity to remain content.
Their thick, harsh double coat requires regular grooming to prevent mats and keep it clean. Though they shed minimally, their coat traps dirt and debris. The breed is generally healthy but should be screened for hip, elbow, and eye conditions.
